Sharp-Shinned Hawk Locations
Accipiter Striatus
Sharp-Shinned Hawks are forest hawks, so they are typically seen among dense tree coverage. Ironically, in Southeastern Arizona, that is most likely to be found within city limits. We have not found one specific location that Sharpies frequent on a regular basis, but we have seen them often throughout all of our area. We would suggest visiting thickets of trees in the Marana area in the Winter, or Riparian areas such as the San Pedro river and the Santa Cruz river in Tucson. The picture on the left was taken well inside Tucson city limits, in the Flowing Wells area. If these sites are not productive, go to where the small birds are common: Christopher Columbus Park, Patagonia, Sonoita, etc.
