Where do I find Birds of Prey in Arizona?

Follow the links on the frame to the left for details of our favorite places to find each raptor in Arizona.

Cooper's Hawk | Silverbell Lakw | NovemberAlthough bird books will normally tell you what habitat you are most likely to find a certain bird of prey in, only experience will help you consistently find a particular kind of raptor when you want to.  For example, the Cooper's Hawk in the picture on the left lives about 4 minutes from our house.  We have never gone to Silverbell Lake without finding him.  So, if we want good Cooper's Hawk pictures, all we have to do is go!  We have gathered our experience onto this page and, although we are not by any means professionals, we hope they will be of use.  We're still learning, so we hope you will contribute.  If you know of a regular bird of prey roost in Southeastern Arizona, contact us, and we will post the information so that we all can enjoy the raptors of Arizona!

Also, visit our photography site.  We have taken great photographs of almost all of the regular raptors of Arizona, plus a few who aren't!  These photos are all available as prints or digital images.

If you would like to know how we find and photograph these birds, visit our resources page.  We have some great, if not sometimes unorthodox but cheap tips!
